On my 45th birthday, surrounded by loved ones, two family members that I haven't seen in awhile commented "gee your face looks red, it looks like you've gotten some sun." I was kind-of taken aback, like geez people I hardly ever see you and this is the first comment you want to say. This is what you're leading with? Well, I suppose it's just their observation, and I didn't mean to take offense.
But when you're dealing with hormone fluctuations, you get bad skin. And then I thought about the use of face tune, filters, and skin smoothing on photos. If people are keeping up with you on social media, and you're doctoring every photo you post, then when you are greeted in person, people are going to ask you if you're okay when your skin doesn't look like it does in the photos.
Generally, I do wear sunscreen every day and on special occasions I wear the tinted one that is kind of like foundation. But I didn't bring it. And I had gone for a difficult 6 mile run that morning so I guess I was looking flushed. And this is the best routine I can do at the moment for my aging skin. I'm seeing a dermatologist today so we'll see what they say.
