Do not worry about these myths

Things people say you need to worry about that you don't actually need to worry about:

Bassinet / sleeping through the night - myth

Nursery / crib - did not need

Nipple confusion - not a thing

Freezer stash - high lipase

Breast pads - I don't leak

Pee pee tee pee - it happens fast, the golden fountain, as we called it.

Bibs - the puree phase was the only time we bibbed. Lasted about 2 months. To be fair our baby wasn't very drooly and he hates messes.

Sleep sack / swaddle - still do not understand this. My kid has always needed his autonomy of all limbs.

Walker - hated it

Protect your milk supply / Build up a freezer stash

You can change your baby anywhere (couch, floor, grass), you don't need a dedicated changing table - Myth

stages of babyproofing

5 months, Stage 1: outlets are cool
Cover all outlets

Stage 2: cables are cool
Hide all cables

9 months, Stage 3: baby jail
Confine the baby

15 months, Stage 4: stairs are cool
Block all the stairs

Stage 5: toilets are cool
Lock all toilets

Stage 6: toys are trash
Lock trashcan

Stage 7: pantry is awesome
Lock pantry

We put drawer and cabinet locks in kitchen and bathrooms same time as stage 2. We secured furniture to the wall sometime around stage 4. We also got door locks to deal with a door obsession.

23 months, Stage 8: I know I'm not supposed to play with this, I'll shut it myself.
But also, I'll try to go out the front door if it's not locked.
And, I can play with stuff that's a choking hazard because I don't try to put everything in my mouth.
Corner covers because I'm taller now and running into the corners of desks
